The challenge: In 2019, Deloitte predicted that Victoria would need an extra 33,000 digital technology workers by 2024.

The outcome: As a Digital Jobs training provider, we are working with the Victorian Government to deliver Front-End Web Development courses for Digital Jobs participants.

The Victorian Government’s Digital Jobs program aims to build the state’s digital workforce by training and upskilling mid-career Victorians so they can transition into digital careers. Through Digital Jobs, 5,000 mid-career Victorians will complete a six-month program that includes 12 weeks of industry-backed training followed by 12 weeks in a digital job with a Victorian business.

We are training Digital Jobs participants in skills to help them build beautiful, dynamic and responsive websites with HTML, CSS and Javascript. At the end of these three-month training courses, the participants will gain industry endorsed qualifications that will set them up for the next stage of their digital career.

Key outputs:

Participants in the first round are diverse, with 50 percent women, 20 percent from regional Victoria and 54 percent who speak multiple languages.
More than 80 percent of participants have over 10 years’ experience in fields spanning tourism and hospitality, IT and telecommunications, banking, construction and engineering, arts and entertainment, and healthcare.
Around 80 percent of participants are tertiary qualified.
