From individuals and global companies, we’re all looking towards making informed decisions — whether it’s understanding the percentage of returns in a product we’re about to buy, all the way to companies learning international consumer trends.
The Data Science and Analytics industry is an attractive one. According to Indeed, the average Data Scientist in Australia earns $120,000 a year, with demand for data roles to continue increasing in coming years.

Hazel has worked with Westpac as a Conduct Risk Analyst and previously, a Financial Crime Analyst. Her career began in PR and Marketing, where she progressed to a Senior PR Account Executive Role with TC Communications. Hazel continued to support marketing functions as a Membership Acquisition and Engagement Coordinator with Diabetes NSW & ACT. Having identified the value of data analysis to inform acquisition strategies and measure the success of fundraising appeals, Hazel undertook study in Data Analytics. This helped her to transition into a Data Insights Analyst role with Diabetes NSW & ACT. Hazel continues to build her career in the field, and is happy to share her journey with students looking to make the leap.

Joel has spent 10 years working at Precision Sourcing as a leading data recruiter. He manages a team of successful consultant across all skill sets within the data world. He is very active in the community and is a founder of the Women in Data Group and the Rugby League Datajam series as well as being an active speaker at events.
